Doha British School (DBS) opened in October 1997 and has grown steadily over recent years to offer an education to students from Pre-school to Year 13. Since 2008, the school has occupied new, purpose-built premises that include facilities for a variety of specialist subjects in addition to well designed classrooms and sports facilities. The school was originally called Doha Montessori & British School (DMBS) and rebranded to Doha British School (DBS) in 2011.
DBS offers a British style educational based on the National Curriculum of England with a modified Montessori programme for early years. The medium of instruction is English but cultural diversity is celebrated. Currently, the student body comprises of over 80 different nationalities.
The school currently has classes from Pre-School to Year 13. The Primary and Secondary classes follow a British style educational programme using the National Curriculum of England through to AS level and International Baccalaureate as our pre-university qualification.
All classes in Key Stages 1, 2, and 3 are taken by teachers having British or equivalent teaching qualifications and are experienced in delivering the British National Curriculum in the UK or international schools. The core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science are complemented by the foundation subjects of Geography, History, Art & Design, French, DT, ICT, P.E., and Music. Arabic and Quranic studies are also available to native Arabic speakers.
