Proudly bearing the name of HH The Father Emir, Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU), is a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development (QF).

By launching HBKU, QF has created a higher education institution that is globally minded, in terms of its commitment to academic and research excellence, but which has Qatar and the needs of the region at its heart. Located in Education City, HBKU delivers a range of carefully targeted undergraduate and graduate programmes that use education and unique collaborations with local and international partners to support Qatar’s growing knowledge-based economy.

It’s programmes are delivered through its College of Science and Engineering, Law School, College of Public Health, Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies, and its College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

HBKU also provides unparalleled opportunities for research and scholarship through its three research institutes – Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI), Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) and Qatar Environmental and Energy Research Institute (QEERI). Additionally, its Center of Executive Education delivers customised programmes for the business community of Qatar and the region, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS)
HBKU’s Schools and Programmes Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS) was established as a home for contemporary Islamic studies and as a vibrant heart for thought and dialogue about everything concerning Islam and Muslims. In addition to offering postgraduate degree programmes, QFIS also houses several distinguished research centres that bring together scholars and thought leaders from around the world.

College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS)
HBKU’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences currently delivers sophisticated postgraduate degree programmes in the field of translation and interpretation. Additionally, through the CHSS’s Translation and Interpreting Institute, the college offers high level training in a range of languages and quality translation and interpreting services.

College of Science and Engineering (CSE)
The College of Science and Engineering currently offers MS and PhD programmes in Biomedical and Biological Sciences; MS and PhD programmes in Sustainable Energy and Sustainable Environment; and a bachelor’s programme in Computer Engineering. New graduate programmes are expected to launch in fall 2016. All the programmes are multidisciplinary, often utilising the skills of expert staff from HBKU’s prestigious research institutes.

HBKU Law School
Created through a strategic partnership with Northwestern Law School, the HBKU Law School is the first in the MENA region to offer the Juris Doctor (JD) postgraduate degree. The Law School’s first JD students started their three-year full-time studies in fall 2015.

The College of Public Health aims to deliver innovative programmes that meet the educational needs in the field of public health for Qatar and the region.
