The Royal Grammar School, Guildford in Qatar is an independent British curriculum school, which will open in Qatar in September 2016, for girls and boys between three and six years of age (Reception, Nursery, Year 1 and 2), with older students up to age 18, being admitted in to the single sex Senior School over the coming years.

The School is part of the prestigious RGS Guildford family of schools, which includes Royal Grammar School, Guildford and Lanesborough Preparatory School. The RGS has a long tradition of providing an outstanding British curriculum education, dating back to 1509. The school in Qatar will follow a bespoke British curriculum, developed at RGS Guildford, which is designed to challenge and inspire children to make the most of their talents and to nurture a lifelong love of learning. The language of instruction is English and all of the teaching staff are highly qualified and British trained.

RGS is considered to be one of the finest education establishments in the UK and their outstanding results speak for themselves. RGS examination results consistently appear in the top percentage of the British school league tables and students who attend one of their schools receive an education which prepares them for entry in to exceptional learning institutions. Curriculum

We follow a bespoke British curriculum, developed at RGS Guildford, which is designed to challenge and inspire children to make the most of their talents and to nurture a lifelong love of learning.


Facilities

The facilities at the school will be amongst the finest in Qatar with top quality sporting amenities, including basketball and volleyball courts, a football field and an all-year round swimming pool. A variety of indoor and outdoor equipped play areas will be available, with the Nursery and Reception classes each having their own dedicated outdoor space adjoining the classroom. The large, impressive library and grand atrium will host school events, including concerts, drama performances, assemblies, and award ceremonies. The opening of the Senior School (scheduled for 2017) will provide dedicated Music, Science, Art and IT facilities, which will be utilised by students from Year 4 and above.


Admission Information

The RGS is academically selective and the language of instruction is English for most lessons. As such admissions are by assessment only and the Admissions Office is open throughout the year. A guide to our admissions criteria can be found on our website.

Number of Teachers

All of our Prep School and Pre-School classrooms have one British trained and qualified teacher and at least one teaching assistant. Our Senior School has similarly qualified staff in appropriate numbers.


Languages Spoken by Teachers

English is the language of tuition and all teaching staff are British. Arabic staff will teach the Arabic and Islamic curriculum.
