Sidra represents the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser who serves as its Chairperson. The high-tech facility will not only provide world-class patient care but will also help build Qatar’s scientific expertise and resources.
Designed by renowned architect Cesar Pelli, Sidra features a main hospital building and a separate outpatient clinic. The main hospital will initially have 400 beds with infrastructure to enable expansion to 550 beds in a subsequent phase.
Sidra opened its Outpatient Clinic on 1 May 2016 with the launch of three clinics – Dermatology, Pediatric General Surgery Consultation and Obstetrics. These clinics are supported by radiology, pathology, pharmacy and laboratory facilities. The Sidra Outpatient Clinic offers outpatient services for women and children through a referral based system in partnership with other healthcare providers in Qatar. More clinics and services will be rolled out over the course of 2016.
Sidra is also part of a dynamic research and education environment in Qatar and through strong partnerships with leading institutions around the world, Sidra is creating an intellectual ecosystem to help advance scientific discovery through investment in medical research.

Based in Education City and as an entity of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development – Sidra is part of a dynamic research and education environment. Education City includes leading international institutions such as Georgetown University, Carnegie Mellon University and HEC Paris as well as recently established national research centers like Qatar Biomedical Research Institute and Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute.
Sidra will work closely with its academic partner Weill-Cornell Medicine in Qatar (WCM-Q) as well as other health and research institutions like Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Qatar Biobank in regard to all three missions – raising the standard of health care throughout the country and providing valuable opportunities for research and learning.
Sidra Medical and Research Center will be a beacon of learning, discovery and exceptional care, ranked among the top academic medical centers in the world.
Sidra will provide patients with world class healthcare services in an innovative and ultramodern facility specially designed to promote healing. In particular, it will initially address the growing need for more comprehensive patient-focused medical services for women and children in Qatar and throughout the region.
In collaboration with the premier medical school in Education City – Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, leading research institutions worldwide, and Qatar’s health sector, Sidra will provide a diversity and quality of care conducive to training medical students and highly skilled clinicians and will be a pioneer in clinical and translational biomedical research of value to the population of Qatar and the world.
