The 7th edition of the annual Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition – S’hail kicked off this Tuesday, 5 September at three pavilions within Katara Cultural Village.
Organized by the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara, the event will run until 9 September with the participation of 190 companies from 18 countries specialized in manufacturing hunting weapons, falconry equipment, camping and vehicles equipped for land trips and sniping.
Government ministries, authorities and official entities are participating to support and deliver premium services to falconry and hunting enthusiasts.
Preserving the region’s falconry heritage
The exhibition is considered the largest event of its kind in the region, anticipated and recognised globally for the preservation of the Gulf region’s falconry heritage and as a major forum to share knowledge and expertise, in addition to promoting relationships among local and international companies.
The event offers the best innovations and products that keep up with the evolution of the falconry tradition. It features state-of-the-art hunting weapons, rifles and land trip equipment, and in addition, showcases a collection of the best and rare falcons.
The 7th edition is dedicating a bigger space compared to the previous editions to accommodate the number of visitors and the wider participation of a wide spectrum of the most illustrious companies specialised in falconry and camping. The event also attracts a substantial number of local, Arab and international companies.
Three pavilions
The exhibition display is distributed into three pavilions within the Katara Cultural Village.
Pavilion A on Wisdom Square is the venue for the S’hail auction theatre. It has a wide range of rare falcons of the highest quality. This is also the venue for falconers’ and land trip equipment, as well as traditional handicrafts associated with hunting and sniping.
Pavilion B houses companies specialised in manufacturing weapons and hunting rifles. The Souq Waqif Falcon Hospital is housed in this pavilion.
Pavilion C contains a section of modified 4WD cars designed for land trips, snipers and camping equipment, in addition to the bird market.
The organising committee also has a dedicated area in the southern part of Katara for hunting rifles and weapons.
Cultural events on the side
On the sidelines of the exhibition, a wide range of exhilarating cultural events are being held to accompany the display. A stage is set up in Pavilion C and features a series of daily seminars and poetry recitals moderated by journalist, Atta Muhammad. The stage activations start at 6:30 pm.
At least 12 artists from Qatar and from Arab and other foreign countries will be joining an exhibition of creative works featuring paintings of falcons and the tradition of falconry.
