The competitions for 7th Qatar Falconry Championship (Isfari) began on Sunday 1 November in the Aba Al Qararis area in Al Khor. Isfari, the first championship of this season, is being organised by Qatari Society for Al Gannas.
The first day of the tournament was marked by competition qualifiers for two categories – Qarnas Hurr and Qarnas Gir Hurr.
The first days of the championship followed all the necessary health measures and precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, adhering to the legal distance between the participants inside the tent, and ensuring that all participants have green Ehteraz status and a normal temperature.
The first day witnessed strong competition between participants, with new names emerging from the invitational race. These new contenders competed strongly and secured their places in the final race.
Fahad Hussain Al Kubaisi, Chairman of the Advocacy Committee of the Qatar Falconry Championship, explained that starting from the first day, the turnout has been great and the weather suitable for conducting the competitions. He wished success to all participants in the remaining qualifiers.
A number of participating falconers thanked the Qatari Al Gannas Association for organising the Yellow Falconry Qatar Championship. They also thanked the association and all relevant authorities that ensure the implementation of health measures and precautions for the safety of everyone.
The falconers indicated that they have prepared their birds in time to compete in the tournaments, and in the upcoming Marmi International Festival 2021.
According to Khalid bin Saeed Al Sulaiti, Head of Isfari, after the completion of the registration in the championship, which was very popular, the participants were distributed into groups and competition schedules were published on social media and on the website of Qatari Society for Al Gannas.
The championship took place on Monday 2 November, with the competitions Al Daw Qarnas Hur and Qarnas Jeer Hur. On the second day, Al Daw Qarnas Shaheen and Al Daw Qarnas Jeer Sheehan will be held.
3 November will be dedicated to the qualifying round for the Al Daw Farakh Hur, and the next day, 4 November, for the qualifying round for Al Daw Farkh Jeer Shaheen.
Thursday 5 November will be dedicated to the qualifying round of Al Daw Farkh Jeer Hur and Friday 6 November to the promising falconer competition – registration will be held on site to facilitate the promising falconers.
In each category, 10 falcons will qualify for the final competition to be held on 7 November, the last day of the championship, which will see the participation of a total of 70 birds qualifying from the seven categories of the competitions. Khalid bin Saeed Al Sulaiti called on all participants to come to the championship site at noon.
