Living in Qatar can sometimes feel like you’re stuck in a bit of a loop, especially if you’re an expat. You wake up, head to work, check off your to-dos, and poof, the day is over. But if you are looking for something to break the routine, somewhere up north, there’s a hidden gem that’s waiting for you to discover.
Let me tell you about Fuwairit Kite Beach, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton. Having visited the place several times already, each time offers a different sense of relaxation, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Located just an hour away from the city, Fuwairit Kite Beach, or FKB, offers a laid-back vibe where you can maximise your days off.
FKB is located along a natural lagoon and we snagged a sea view room. Waking up to a beautiful view is a different level of morning motivation. The room even had its own patio, equipped with a massive bean bag and a hammock – our personal chill zone. Imagine sipping your morning coffee here while the sun rises or just sitting during midday, watching kite surfers doing their thing.
Whether you’re in the mood for a karaoke showdown, water adventures like kite surfing, physical activities like padel or football, or a relaxed evening at the outdoor cinema, FKB has you covered. It’s like they’ve managed to squeeze in all the elements of a great weekend. Just keep in mind, it can get a bit chilly up there these days, so it’s advisable to layer up especially at night.
One standout feature of FKB is that it feels like every direction you glance is Instagram-worthy. From the lobby to the restaurants, and all the way to the mural-adorned rooms, you can easily tell that this place was thoughtfully crafted with aesthetics in mind.
About the food: the onsite restaurant offered a diverse, non-pretentious menu, from hearty burgers to flavoursome pasta and some Arabic delights. We were on a full board package and our favourite was the breakfast buffet, right beside the pool. The food was actually good, considering how remote the location felt. It’s nice to have options that match your mood.
The heated pool was also a favourite, especially now during the cooler Qatar temperatures. It’s open from 8 am to 10 pm, so you can take a dip whenever suits your fancy. The fitness centre, though we didn’t use it much (let’s be real, we were there to relax), seemed well-equipped for those with a bit more energy.
The real MVPs of our stay were the staff. Attentive, friendly, and always ready with a smile, they added that extra touch to make our experience memorable. Kudos to Annisah, Hansen, Aye, Gehani, and all their colleagues whom we had the pleasure of encountering.
While having your own wheels is advisable for the hour-long journey, don’t stress if you don’t. Mowasalat (Karwa) has your back for drop-offs and pickups, making the trip logistics surprisingly hassle-free. FKB can also arrange a ride for you, if needed.
Fuwairit Kite Beach is the kind of place where time slows down, and you find yourself embracing the laid-back vibes. It’s not pretending to be something it’s not – just a genuine spot to unwind with like-minded souls. If you’re craving a break from the city chaos, consider this your ticket to a weekend of relaxation and sea breezes.
