Have you ever been to a Filipino fiesta (which means feast in Spanish)? Marhaba was invited to try Silk Road’s Jolly Night, and we discovered why it’s called jolly. Filipinos are known for their joyful spirit, and this buffet dinner perfectly captures that vibrant energy.
Located in bustling Al Sadd, Silk Road restaurant at Doubletree by Hilton Al Sadd beautifully blends contemporary design with touches of oriental elegance. But every Thursday night, this restaurant transforms into a celebration of Filipino cuisine with their Jolly Night buffet dinner – a true Filipino fiesta for the senses.
As soon as you step inside, you’re greeted by the lively staff, sounds of Tagalog hits and the warm chatter of diners enjoying a taste of home. We dove straight into the appetiser section. Coleslaw, beetroot and apple salad, fresh vegetable salad, and even macaroni salad awaited us (fun fact: In the Philippines, macaroni salad often doubles as dessert!).
For our second plate, we sampled the crab and corn soup, siomai ( steamed dumplings), crispy chicken skin, pancit (stir-fried noodles), chicken Afritada (chicken in tomato sauce) with peas, carrots and potatoes, sweet and sour fish, chicken soy glazed, and beef kare-kare with string beans, bokchoy, and aubergine in a creamy peanut sauce. Of course, no Filipino meal is complete without a selection of sawsawan or dipping sauces – we made sure to try a few, including the essential alamang, or shrimp paste, and a generous serving of steamed white rice, a staple on every Filipino table.
No Filipino feast would be complete without indulging in panghimagas or dessert. The station was filled with mini cake slices, chocolate fondue, sliced fruits, and the Filipino favourite: leche flan or crème caramel. After this feast, we helped ourselves to lattes, having strategically selected a table near the coffee machine.
Overall, the offerings and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming, making it a great place to catch up with friends or enjoy a family meal. If you’re looking for a heartwarming taste of Filipino cuisine in a fun and festive atmosphere, be sure to check out Silk Road’s Jolly Night.
Every Thursday from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm, treat yourself to a Filipino feast for just QAR75 per person. For an additional QAR59, elevate your experience with their beverage package, which includes three enhanced beverages.
