Sherborne Qatar celebrated the conclusion of what has been a very successful academic year as they gained the Qatar National Schools Accreditation (QNSA) in addition to the British Schools Overseas Accreditation it currently holds. The QNSA report especially noted the ‘strength in the quality of the educational leadership, teaching and learning, development and care for learners’ of the school.
Service to the community is also an important part of school life and during the Commemoration in June, a cheque for QAR36,000 was presented to Education Above All, as donation to the United World Schools in support of its partner school Som Roung in Cambodia. This was the result of the school’s fundraising effort across the community. The money has paid for three teachers and various other projects in Cambodia. The initiative will continue in the new academic year and hopefully, there will be a staff visit to Som Roung in 2019 and a pupil visit in 2020.
The Senior School has also achieved excellent GCSE and A Level results again, with many former pupils now successfully taking degree courses in various universities around the world.
The Autumn Term is the start of the school’s 10th year and this promises to be another busy and successful year for Sherborne Qatar. The school is welcoming 104 new pupils in Prep School and 73 students in Senior School. Senior School AS and A Level pupils can now choose from 21 different courses and the new Business Studies Suite is opening. A multipurpose hall is also being built at the Prep School.
