Qatar’s popular community outreach initiative #bigbmeetup celebrates its five-year anniversary this month. The initiative started with its very first wellness episode at Aspire Zone’s Torch Hotel on 27 April five years ago, featuring Qatari sports icon Mohammed Saadoon Al Kuwari as keynote speaker along with other personalities of Qatar.
Since the inaugural edition, founder Bosco Menezes conducted over 85 editions of the popular community outreach initiative that prides itself on four pillars: Celebrating Art and Culture, Sports and Wellness, Estedama (which translates to sustainability) and This Ability – championing people who are differently abled and neurodiverse. It follows the motto – To Inspire, To Educate, To Inform and To Bring Communities Together.
The initiative hosted differently-abled children and adults alike, and many high-profile Qatari and expatriates residing in Qatar and overseas.
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bosco took the #bigbmeetup to online platforms – YouTube and Facebook – streaming live from Qatar to a worldwide audience, hosting former US Ambassador to Qatar, HE Chase Untermeyer and his wife from Houston, USA; and Fatma Al Dosari, Executive Director of Qatar America Institute of Culture in Washington, USA. Bosco also hosted Yukari Sunaga, the wife of the former Japanese Ambassador to Qatar.
From the Marhaba Team, we congratulate you, Bosco! We are happy to support #bigbmeetup and we appreciate your support of Marhaba. Here’s to more years of community service.
To mark the occasion, Bosco is hosting a series of events under #bigbmeetup. Follow the Marhaba calendar and Marhaba’s social media platforms for updates.
