Under the patronage of Qatar Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the fourth edition of Build Your House Exhibition (BYH 2023) was officially inaugurated at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) this week.
The highly anticipated opening was attended by Qatar Chamber Chairman of the Board of Directors, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, NeXTfairs co-founder and General Manager Rawad Sleem, and Al Hattab Holding Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors Abdul Aziz Bin Hattab Al Kaabi. Ministers, ambassadors, dignitaries, VIP guests, industry experts, and media representatives were also there during the opening.
The dignitaries were led on a VIP tour of the exhibition to meet some of the 250 exhibitors participating in this year’s event.
According to NeXTfairs GM Rawad Sleem, they are honoured to receive such incredible support. He said that the exhibition takes its role as leader in the roadmap towards Qatar becoming an advanced society, continuously strengthening the event to ensure it enhances the construction sector’s growth and empowers Qatari housebuilders.
He said that this year’s event welcomes more exhibitors and showcases the highest standards from different exhibitors from across the world. They also added an extra day, increasing the opportunities for attendees to get all the information they need to get their house-building project off the ground.

Commenting on their participation as key supporter and event partner, Major General Hamad Othman Al-Duhaimi, Director-General of the General Directorate of Civil Defence, said they are pleased to be an active and essential partner of Build Your House. He said that the exhibition has become a collaborative forum for knowledge and practical insight, providing the best procedures for obtaining approvals – from license applications, engineering plans, safety systems, and the latest equipment and equipment used in rescue, protection and security operations.
Major General Al-Duhaimi said it is imperative that they, as a department of the Ministry of Interior, support and provide practical guidance to introduce security and safety measures in homes and private facilities.

Knowledge sharing and collaboration
Jean Saade, chairman of one of the exhibition participant, Living Spirit Interior Design, said that the people they met at BYH exhibition are invaluable. They have generated potential clients and established business relationships with other exhibitors; they also received inspiring feedback from the visitors on the products and designs they showcased on their booth.
Saade said they are confident about the positive outcome of all the hardship and effort invested by their team.

A platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration, BYH exhibition bring together leading industry experts, government entities and Qatari nationals under one roof.
This edition also sees the participation of Education Above All Foundation (EAA). Their booth showcases their recent work with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) and the Generation Amazing Foundation, in partnership with Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA), as they donated 27 tents to displaced communities in Pakistan. Syria, Turkey and Yemen. The tents will be used as schools, clinics and temporary shelters.
To aid EAA’s valuable work, Living Spirit will host an exciting live mural painting created by renowned painter Giovanni Bressana. Living Spirit will showcase and auction the mural and will donate 100% of the profits to EAA.
Continuing commitment to the present and future
BYH 2023 has a continuing commitment to enable the construction and design sector – present and future – to flourish. This year’s annual student design competition in collaboration with the interior design students of Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) allows three shortlisted winners to gain vital industry exposure as they showcase their design at the exhibition.
Twenty-one students participated in the design challenge. The winning entries will be announced and will be on view from today, 16 May.
BYH exhibition has also become a must-attend event for SME and international industry experts to showcase their services to consumers in Qatar and for empowering Qatari citizens to fully utilise the government’s provisions for land development, housing vouchers and loans.
The event also continues to grow to become more immersive and entertaining.
The Ministry of Municipality‘s booth encourages visitors to test their knowledge with their daily Doha Municipal Competition. Attendees can participate in the competition each day, and a winner will be drawn at 8 pm. The winner will receive a prize for a home agricultural area in the winner’s garden.
Attendees can also look forward to an enhanced array of services and products from consultants, contractors, suppliers – smart homes and general service industry leaders and participate in the Knowledge Sharing Conference that offers practical workshops from government entities, live Q&A sessions and a free self-build course. The Knowledge Sharing Conference is open daily, with talks and sessions starting at 11 am.
