City University Qatar in partnership with Ulster University (CUQ), hosted its 2024 graduation ceremony at Pullman Doha West Bay, celebrating the academic achievements and personal development of an exceptional cohort of graduates. The ceremony celebrated the conferment of Postgraduate and Bachelor’s degrees, as well as the awarding of Higher National Diplomas.
Nourah Al Ansari, Acting Director of Scholarships in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, commended the graduates for their remarkable perseverance and dedication. She highlighted the significance of their accomplishments, noting that their commitment and diligence have positioned them to embark on new and exciting professional and personal journeys, fully equipped with the skills and expertise necessary to contribute meaningfully to society and the evolving workforce.
City University President, Professor Faris G. Faris, congratulated the Class of 2024 by acknowledging their resilience and growth. Professor Faris also expressed sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for its crucial role in supporting the recent elevation of City University College to full university status, now proudly recognised as City University.
Professor Paul Bartholomew, Vice-Chancellor of Ulster University, who officiated the ceremony, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduates of City University, as some embark on their postgraduate studies while others commence their professional journeys. He underscored the enduring excellence of Ulster University, which was recently nominated for University of the Year by Times Higher Education.
HE Fahad Bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, Former Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the United Kingdom, delivered a compelling keynote address, emphasising the importance of lifelong learning, while praising the collaboration between City University and Ulster University. He further acknowledged the visionary leadership of City University’s founder and CEO, Natra Abdulla, in advancing this significant partnership.
Several graduates shared their inspiring stories, reflecting on their transformative journeys at City University. Among those who shared their stories were Wadha Hamad Alhelal (MBA Women in Leadership) and Lana Eyad Al Robeh (BSc Business Studies).
Adding to the ceremony’s ambience, the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra provided a sophisticated touch, underscoring the university’s commitment to enriching the student experience through the arts.
The ceremony highlighted City University’s distinguished position as a leading institution of higher education in Qatar and within the region. With its new state-of-the-art bespoke campus in Lusail, the university proudly offers pioneering programmes, including a Bachelor of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and the first MBA Women in Leadership programme in the MENA region.
As the ceremony drew to a close, a palpable sense of pride and accomplishment permeated the atmosphere, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Class of 2024 as they set forth to make the mark as City University graduates.
