Compass International School Doha celebrated the successful graduation of its Year 13 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) students recently, held at the school’s Madinat Khalifa campus where students and their families were welcomed by Dr Terry Creissen, OBE.
Dr Creissen spoke of the hard work put in by all involved and reminded students that, whatever trials they may face in life, he hoped that they would always approach each challenge with compassion and tolerance, favouring friendship over adversity, peace over war, and love over hate. The welcome was followed by a speech by Qatari graduate Abdulla Al Subai.
Other speakers, Head of Secondary Level Tom Douch and IB Coordinator Justin Hughes, reflected on the 50th year of the IB Diploma Programme and how the values of the programme will guide the students in the future. After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed a ‘graduation cake’ donated by Dr Al Subai and Sheikha Al Subaey.
This year’s graduates from CISD have received offers from universities around the world such as the Imperial College London, University of Amsterdam, University of Durham, University of Leeds and from various other institutions in the United States, Canada, Malaysia and Australia.
