Expatriates from countries who are denied entry to Qatar over coronavirus will be allowed into the country once the restriction is lifted even if their Qatar IDs have expired or if they have stayed more than six months out of Qatar.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Administrative Labour and Social Affairs officials at a meeting with community leaders held in Doha on Thursday.
As per Qatari law, expatriates with residency permits cannot stay out of Qatar for more than six months. They also can’t enter the country legally with an expired ID. However, a relaxation has been made for those facing entry restrictions due to coronavirus, accoridng to ministry officials.
The Ministry of Public Health has temporarily banned the entry of travellers from 14 countries as more coronavirus cases tested positive in the country.
The ban covers Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Syria and Thailand.
