The Ministry of Interior (MoI) Qatar has mobilised all its capabilities in the fight against COVID-19. All concerned departments of MoI have been working to ensure to ensure proper safety guidelines awareness.
Lt. Col. Nayef Bin Faleh Al Thani, the Director of Al-Fazaa, said:
We are facing an exceptional case, any kind of negligence cannot be accommodated, we have to stand firm to prevent the spread of virus with utmost preventive measures.’
Al-Fazaa has increased number of patrols throughout the country, safeguarding all quarantine sites as identified by Ministry of Public Health (MoPH). In addition to securing the closed parts of Industrial Area, monitoring shops that are subjected to closure decision, and also preventing people from gathering in public areas.
Director of the Al-Najda Police Department confirmed that there is complete cooperation between Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and all the field organisations, as the patrols are the first to respond to all reports. The operation of the patrols in the current crisis did not affect its main duties in keeping the security and stability of the country.
Accompanying buses and vehicles related to the crisis, such as buses from the airport to quarantine or from quarantine to hospitals, is another prime responsibility of Al-Fazaa.
Lt Col Jabr Ali al-Kubaisi, assistant director of Patrol and Traffic Investigation Department of the General Directorate of Traffic pointed out that road accidents considerably reduced due to the lack of traffic flow.
This is an indication of the commitment of citizens and residents to the precautionary measures and preventive decisions of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, and the effectiveness and impact of the awareness campaigns carried out.’
