A former student from Doha English Speaking School (DESS) Jessica Castles, has been selected to compete at the forthcoming 48th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Qatar, beginning on 25 October until 3 November. She will be competing against over 700 male and female gymnasts from more than 80 countries across 10 days of competition in Doha’s iconic Aspire Dome.
During her time in Doha, Jessica plans to visit DESS to speak with children about her gymnastics career to-date. She said that to compete in the World Championships in Qatar almost feels like competing on home soil!
I started gymnastics at the Gymnastics Academy at DESS when I was in Year 1 and trained there until Year 6 when I was invited to continue my training with the Qatar National Squad. After Year 8 I moved back to the UK in order to take my gymnastics to the next level.
Jessica’s hard work paid off when she was selected to join the Swedish National Squad. She has since represented Sweden at many international competitions. Her ultimate goal is to compete in the Olympic Games. For more information about the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Qatar, check out the Marhaba Events Calendar.
