The hair and beauty salons may be closed, but that’s no excuse to ignore self-care! Both men and women are struggling to keep up with their self-care regimen but Tajmeel are here to help.
The water in Qatar is quite harsh on the hair and skin, so it’s important to take extra steps to keep yourself healthy and feeling good. Below are some ‘Do It Yourself’ hair care masks to balance oily hair, to moisturise brittle hair, and to hydrate dry hair, all of which are recipes expertly designed by Tajmeel: Qatar International Beauty Academy.
DIY MASK FOR OILY HAIR
Olive oil is one of the healthiest oils for the hair, honey has moisturising properties and yoghurt is a natural conditioner which helps your hair maintain its natural texture.
In a bowl, place 2 tablespoons of yoghurt, gently warm 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a small saucepan to blend the ingredients (do not boil).
Apply mask to the hair starting at your roots and working down to your ends – making sure to massage into your scalp to stimulate circulation.
Rinse after 30 to 45 minutes.
DIY MASK FOR DULL AND BRITTLE HAIR
This coconut oil, avocado and banana hair mask can’t be beat! With just three ingredients, your hair will look less damaged with more shine, and feel healthier in no time.
Combine 1 ripe avocado, 1 ripe banana, 2 tbsp coconut oil and blend together until thoroughly mixed.
Shampoo your hair, then spread the mixture over it and let it set for 20-30 minutes. Thoroughly rinse out the mask and condition.
DIY ALOE VERA HAIR MASK
The aloe vera gel taken from inside the fleshy leaves of the plant has many uses in natural remedies. Due to its moisturising vitamin-rich properties and soothing effect, it is used as a treatment for dry hair and skin. It helps with dandruff relief, restoring the pH level, balancing your scalp and preventing hair loss.
Apply the gel to your scalp and hair. Let it sit for an hour then rinse with mild shampoo.
As a safety measure, try the plant gel on the skin of your wrist or behind the ear. Leave for 10 mins, rinse off and if there’s no reaction after 24 hours, go ahead and use the mask.
