The sixth edition of the Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition – S’hail, organised by Cultural Village Foundation – Katara, opened this Monday, 5 September, with renewed interest in hunting and wild safari from aficionados.
The exhibition – more grandeur and classier – will run until 10 September.
Opening day
The opening day of S’hail 2022 witnessed visits of a number of ambassadors to Qatar: HE Hassan Mubarak Boubacar, Ambassador of the Republic of Niger; HE Gholam Hussein Asmal, Ambassador of South Africa; and Sheikh Naim bin Abdul Malik Al Suhail, Deputy Chief of the Presidential Court in Iraq and Muhammad Issa Al-Issawi, Chargé d’Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq. The ambassadors toured the most prominent sections of the exhibition and browsed through the various products offered related to falcon weapons and hunting.
Chairman of the Organising Committee of S’hail and Katara General Manager, HE Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, said that the sixth edition of S’hail is not only a clear indication of the realisation of the vision which heralded the start of one of the finest events in the region but one which has now become a global forum.
He said that the past successes of the previous editions of S’hail are also reflected in the sixth edition which is exemplified by participation of local and international companies, and the public.
HE Dr Al-Sulaiti also pointed that since the establishment of S’hail, Katara has laid great emphasis on the value of heritage and enrichment of the local cultural scene, regionally and globally.
Local and international participants
One hundred eighty companies specialising in falconry and hunting-related products are participating in the sixth edition of S’hail, a showcase of the best local, regional and international firms from Qatar and from other parts of the world. Products on display include a range of falconry, hunting and camping supplies, hunting-related weaponry, gadgetry, vehicles and safari essentials.
Notably, S’hail 2022 also marked an increase of 20% in its already expansive area. The exhibition is open daily from 10 am until 10 pm, except on Fridays, when opening times is from 2 pm until 11 pm.
S’hail 2022 is made possible by sponsors and partners from the public and private sectors:

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change also made remarkable efforts to ease the process of the issuance of passports and health certificates (CITES) for falcons to buyers. CITES is recognised globally and grants the ‘re-export’ of falcons to travellers outside Qatar, making it easier for falcons to move between countries and through all ports.
According to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Public Relations Director Farhoud Al-Hajri, this is the first time that they are participating in the S’hail exhibition under the new name of the ministry.
S’hail 2022 is also hosting a series of lectures, featuring a group of researchers specialised in heritage and the environment. Events and activities are also ongoing alongside the exhibition including poetry readings, on-the-spot paintings, and more.
