According to an official from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), the first batch of COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer, is expected to arrive in Qatar before the end of December.
Dr Abdul-Wahab Al-Musleh, Advisor to the Minister of Public Health for Sports and Emergency Affairs, said that the ministry expects the first batch of the Pfizer vaccine to be in Qatar before the end of the month. Dr Al-Musleh made the announcement during a show on Alkass Channel.
He said that priority will be given to the elderly, people with chronic diseases and to frontline workers. Gradually, the vaccine will be rolled out to the public in the coming months.
The Pfizer vaccine has two doses which has to be administered three weeks apart.
Dr Al-Musleh also mentioned that the vaccine will not be compulsory in Qatar but that proof of vaccination may be required for travel or to enter certain establishments like hotels and stadiums.
