Al Messila, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa is one of Marriott’s Luxury Collection of unique hotels which, while benefitting from the global resources of a large chain, retain a certain cosiness, a sense of being grounded in their natural environment but offering the absolute best in modern luxury and facilities, including the ability to host the most amazing and diverse selection of appetisers, starters, main courses from all the world’s famous cuisines, and desserts that make up this tantalising and ultimately satisfying weekend brunch.
The selection will satisfy all dietary preferences, including those of your children and, yes, there’s even a special area for kids while the adults can enjoy their drinks and dishes – maybe tapping their feet to the upbeat, but not overbearing, tempo of the DJ and eye-catching duo.
A fantastic selection, yes, but how to choose? I so wanted to experience the Asian flavours in the sushi, sashimi, all kinds of seafood, including some succulent marinated salmon; Italian flavours are always popular and here there are all kinds of straight, curly, thick and thin pastas, spaghetti, ravioli and penne, all with matching sauces, not forgetting pizza. There’s salad and salads – so many salads – crab, beetroot, seafood, quinoa and local favourite tabbouleh to name a few. Other favourites like hummus and shawarma, even dim sum and spring rolls, are all here. There must be a dozen kinds of bread, quiche, fish and chicken terrine, and lots of different cheeses.
Up to now, we’re technically still in starter territory. So make sure you’re not fully satisfied by all the above – difficult I know, but it’s a must. For now we have even more variety, even more flavoursome flavours… main courses such as mix grill of beef, chicken and meaty lamb chops, seafood like prawns, mussels and calamari looking fresh from the deep, another counter/stall groaning under the weight of great sides of beef and lamb plus chicken with accompanying red, orange and green vegetables, plump potato wedges and a selection of sauces to suit.
Main dishes, should you need them, include a dish of gleaming, fresh hamour with caper sauce, the epitome of a healthy diet. The beef cooked with broccoli is another colourful and healthy-looking portion of pleasure. Butter chicken is another scrumptious combination, as is spinach stuffed chicken; all follow the formula where health + health = delicious.
The next display dish reminded me of a pod of orca in a feeding frenzy but it was the interesting Arab dish from Al Sham kibbeh bil laban which is widely loved by all who have tasted it. Last but not least, potato au gratin – obviously the humble potato made delicious cooked with cheese – is a great satisfying taste, especially if you need a lot of energy.
Al Messila, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa chefs are multi-talented and their desserts are quite as delicious as their starters and mains. If you can take your eyes off the chocolate fountain and the temptingly utterly gorgeous cakes on the top shelf – black forest, pistachio fraiser, fruit, chocolate mousse and fruity mousse, you can enjoy some pieces from the fresh fruit display or take your pick from the myriad bite-size morsels with such inviting ingredients as coffee and mascarpone, pistachio and raspberry, fruit tart and berry baked yoghurt. This Friday Brunch makes life worth living – the fruit and goodness of mother earth all here at your fingertips and at the tip of your tongue.
