The Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, to give it its full name, has a variety of restaurants, cafés and lounges but here we are talking about one of Doha’s long-standing traditions, the Friday Family Brunch in the Sheraton’s beautiful gardens and right on the seashore. And yes, with cooler temperatures and refreshing breezes now with us, La Veranda’s al fresco Friday brunch is back.
In spite of the dozens of new towers built in Al Dafna, Lusail and all around Doha, the Sheraton Grand remains probably the most distinctive and instantly recognisable structure in the whole of Doha. Many walkers and joggers have enjoyed the 7.5 km Corniche for a breath of fresh sea air and exercise with their destination the iconic pyramid which is surrounded by the green gardens of Al Dafna Park and Hotel Park and by the shimmering azure waters of the Gulf.
La Veranda seems to have provided literally everything to make your Friday a satisfying success. There are toys and face-painting for the kids, there’s live music and games to play or you can simply gaze over the calm waters of the Gulf and see the latest landmarks along the Corniche, or pad around in the lush green grass of the beautiful gardens.
Even if you’re childless, or tone-deaf, you should still come here for the absolutely amazing spread on offer. La Veranda is second-to-none when it comes to Italian food – it’s authentic and delizioso. Choose from a wide variety of appetizers, salads, seafood and cold cuts, bread, cheese, plus fruits and desserts.
Seafood lovers will love the appetisers with so many options – scallops, lobsters, fish, shrimps, crabs, calamari, oysters, and more. Or you can choose from salads and appetizers with various cuts of beef, veal, chicken and lamb plus every vegetable you can think of and every kind of bread, pasta, potatoes and rice. And slices from the biggest hamour and the freshest, tenderest beef Wellington you’ve seen. The best of surf and turf!
There are creative and delicious-looking dishes like chicken scallopini, seafood lasagne, south Italian veal with mushrooms, eggplant Parmigiana and Osso Bucco; these Sheraton chefs are incredible!
Not to forget the kids and their idea of good food – there’s a special station with simply the best fish fingers, chicken nuggets and mini burgers.
That was indoors. Come outside where the chefs at live stations will conjure up your own fresh and tasty unique pizza or La Veranda’s signature pizza, pasta, piadina and creamy risotto; if you’re not yet bubbly enough, next door is the beverage station and nearby is the live band ready to play your favourite tune.
Hopefully, you can still enjoy some sweets. The dessert bar is a kaleidoscope of colour and textures. Here you can dream, sweet lover! From Italian specialities like tiramisu and gelato to other world favourites there’s a fantastic choice for all tastes, including the most colourful Chantilly tarte to die for…
