The Garangao tradition is one of the colourful highlights of Ramadan. In Qatar, the event is celebrated on the 14th day of Ramadan, which falls on 9 June this year.

Qatar Airways organised a memorable Garangao event for its employees and their families to celebrate the highly-anticipated annual mid-Ramadan children’s festival, highlighting the airline’s commitment to preserving Qatar’s rich culture and heritage. This year’s event was held from 8-9 June, providing children festivities and celebrations with a particular focus on traditional Qatari games.
The traditional celebrations were held at Regency Halls, a banquet hall strategically located in the heart of Doha. The festive tradition enabled children to truly experience the spirit of Ramadan, the Month of Giving, as they received gift bags that included nuts and sweets.

Qatar Foundation
Families from across the country enjoyed a fun and festive atmosphere at Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Garangao celebrations at Al Shaqab on Thursday evening.
QF’s Garangao activities this year featured a range of traditional games and cultural activities, including ‘gaiss’ and ‘dahroui’, specially designed for the whole family to enjoy. Visitors were also able to sample some of the region’s most popular dishes, including ‘harees’, ‘khanfaroosh’, and ‘luqaimat’.
QF’s popular National Reading Campaign hosted a series of interactive games for children including scrabble and jigsaw puzzles, while the campaign’s innovative Reading Truck was on hand to provide favorite books and stories for children and families.

Katara Cultural Village
The Cultural Village Foundation-Katara continues to host an array of activities and programmes for its ongoing Ramadan Festival, under the theme titled ‘Hospitality in Various Muslim Nations’.
On the 14th day of Ramadan, Katara hosted a joyous Garangao celebration that attracted families and children in colourful traditional robes with cloth bags. Each bags were filled with candy and nut treats from various stalls in Katara.

Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels
There’s no better place to celebrate the traditional Garangao than in the traditional Souq Waqif in Doha. Kids enjoyed playing parlour games with the mascots prepared by the Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels. Aside from the candy and nuts treat, SWBH also served snacks that kids loved.
