Qatar’s goal of creating a research, development, and innovation ‘legacy’ revealed during the 10th anniversary celebration of Qatar Science & Technology Park
HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, attended the 10th anniversary celebration of Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), dubbed ‘Catalyzing The Future’.
The event was also joined by other VIP guests, led by HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatar Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; and HE Dr Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, and Chairperson of Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council.
The celebration marked the achievements of Qatar Foundation in the field of RDI and emphasised how a nationwide commitment to advancing innovation will create a legacy for Qatar, looking ahead to the next phase of the nation’s RDI journey. QSTP, which hosted the event, has become a national and regional hub of technology innovation and development since its establishment ten years ago.
‘Catalyzing The Future’ highlighted how the culture created by Qatar Foundation in education, research, development, and innovation has provided the platform to take RDI in Qatar to a new level – supporting the nation’s economic and social development, and underpinning its self-sufficiency and sustainability.
It also highlighted the role that QSTP will play in accelerating Qatar’s business RDI sector, to make it a global destination for technology companies and talent.
‘Catalyzing The Future’ culminated with a speech by Dr Al Attiyah, who chairs the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council, a national body charged with creating a nationwide strategy for research, development and innovation – QRDI 2030 – and the operating model for its successful execution.
With its creation mandated by the National Development Strategy, QRDI 2030 will contribute to the transformation of the nation’s social and economic future. Qatar’s goal is to rank among the world’s most advanced innovation economies
HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser toured the exhibition which highlighted the achievements of technology ventures incubated at QSTP in the fields of applied research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
