Hamad International Airport (HIA) recently launched ENJAZ, a national talent development programme created to grow and nurture Qatari talents.
According to HIA, it is imperative that national talent is identified and positioned in key areas as future aviation leaders, growing in tandem with the development of the country and its award-winning airport.
The HIA ENJAZ programme heavily invests in the extensive training and development of nationals to accelerate their careers. Forty-five per cent of the total learning and development budget of the airport is dedicated towards the training and development of its national workforce. This investment plays a major role in encouraging the sustainable growth and development of HIA.
Although nationals are already engaged in key positions at HIA, ENJAZ has been introduced to ensure that the airport maintains its strong sense of national identity while working towards the vision set by the wise leadership of the country.
HIA has partnered with internationally-recognised aviation associations and regulatory bodies, as well as high profile local and international educational institutions to provide extended development plans for national talents.
The ENJAZ programme will pave the way for HIA to achieve its objectives such as the airport expansion and the diversification of its operations as Qatar gears up to host the FIFA World Cup 2022™.
HIA is growing exponentially due to the growth of its national carrier, Qatar Airways, and the country’s tourism sector. To keep up with this growth, HIA is undertaking its massive multi-phased airport expansion project which will increase the airport’s capacity from 35 million passengers to over 60 million passengers per annum, creating thousands of highly skilled job opportunities.
The airport’s commitment to achieving these objectives depends on its strong focus to ensure the skills upgrade of its national manpower through talent management, development programmes and employee motivation initiatives based on efficiency and job performance distinction.
Over the years HIA has been working with Qatar Civil Aviation Authority to provide over one hundred job opportunities for graduates of Qatar College of Aviation Sciences. The graduates were given positions within its various departments. HIA has also been offering scholarships for nationals pursuing under-graduate degrees, masteral degrees and engineering programmes.
