Hamad International Airport (HIA) organised a tour for students of Oryx International School to showcase the airport’s award winning facilities and services. The tour was in cooperation with Qatar Airways.
The tour exposed a group of primary school students to the comprehensive travel experience at HIA, starting with the departures terminal until the on-flight boarding areas. During the tour, HIA staff introduced a simplified version of the Smart Airport programme and the collection of art pieces displayed across the airport.
The students were escorted by Joud & Soud, cartoon characters inspired by Qatari culture. They were also presented with information about other airport services, including the Unaccompanied Minors Lounge that offers family-friendly facilities and a playground area.
One of the aspects of the tour included a visit to the state-of-the-art aircraft of Qatar Airways – Boeing 777 – through which the national carrier presented their exquisite features, including the Business and Economy class cabins and inflight entertainment programmes especially created for young travellers.
The students were given the opportunity to get onboard the passenger train that connects the South and the North nodes of the terminal. The tour concluded with a special lunch and gifts offered by Qatar Duty Free.
