Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas, in partnership with The Triathlete Factory (TTF) and A13 Academy hosted the Qatar leg of the TTF Kids Triathlon Series, offering young athletes across the region the exciting opportunity to try the three legs of a triathlon: swimming, cycling, and running.
Following the successful launch of the series in Bahrain last month, the Qatar event saw over 120 young athletes competing passionately, representing various countries in the race for the title of ‘Gulf Triathlon Champion’. The TTF Kids Triathlon Series will conclude with a final event on 7 December in Saudi Arabia. The top ten finishers in each age group and gender category earn points, with rankings based on cumulative results from their best two out of the three races. In the event of a tie, the athlete with the most race participation will be declared the winner.
Sumaya Hussain, Founder of The Triathlete Factory Academy, shared her passion for children’s triathlons and her vision for their growth. Reflecting on her journey, she said, ‘My love for kids has always been the magical force that keeps me moving forward. It was my dream to create a triathlon championship exclusively for children, and in 2023, that dream came true in Bahrain.’ Since then, the TTF Kids Triathlon Race Series has expanded to Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Hussain expressed her joy with each event and her commitment to bringing this empowering initiative to more countries next year, fostering a brighter, healthier future for young athletes.
Abdulla Shaheen Al-Kaabi, CEO & Founder of A13 Academy, emphasised the importance of the TTF Triathlon Race, organised in collaboration with key partners. ‘This event provides young athletes with a valuable opportunity to compete, raising health awareness and encouraging participation in triathlon,’ he said. He highlighted the Gulf region’s need for more youth triathlon events and praised Hilton Salwa Resort for hosting the race with outstanding facilities. A13 Academy, in partnership with the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation, aims to promote the sport, nurture new talent, and support the national team.
Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas, with its world-class sports and wellness facilities, proved the perfect host for this event. General Manager Andre Borg shared his enthusiasm: ‘We are thrilled to host such an inspiring event, promoting active lifestyles and fostering young talent. Our facilities are designed to support youth sports, and we look forward to empowering the next generation through more events like this.’
The event saw over 120 participants from 26 nationalities competing across five age groups (6-15 years), with distances tailored to each group, ranging from 25-300m swimming, 1-10km cycling, and 600m-2.4km running. Awards were presented to the top three finishers in each category.
The lively atmosphere featured a live DJ, children’s activities, and a celebratory awards ceremony, offering families a fun-filled day as young athletes demonstrated resilience, determination, and sportsmanship.
