Following the official opening of its latest state-of-the-art hospitals at Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is offering public tours of the three new facilities to individuals and community groups interested in taking a closer look, for a limited period. Tours began on 21 January and will continue until 1 February.
The tours highlight some of the special features and services within the Women’s Wellness and Research Centre (WWRC), the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute (QRI), and the Ambulatory Care Centre (ACC). Interested members of the public can register for the tour through their website: newhmchospitals.qa, which also allows visitors to take a visual tour of the facilities and their innovative approach to care.
Tours are led by HMC staff and will provide a closer look at the new hospitals as well as a behind-the-scenes view of the equipment and facilities required to deliver high-quality care to all HMC patients.
State of the Art Medical Facilities
WWRC is the largest women’s tertiary hospital in Qatar with a capacity for up to 17,000 births per year. The new hospital, which offers a number of specialised outpatient clinics for obstetrics and gynaecology, is equipped with a large emergency department, an expanded visitor waiting area, seven operating theatres, 26 delivery rooms, and 240 private inpatient rooms with bathrooms. In addition, the WWRC has over 100 NICU cots for the care of critically ill newborns. The facility is also staffed with over 2,000 highly trained clinicians who have extensive experience in gynaecology, obstetrics, and newborn care.
QRI is a modern, world-class hospital offering patients integrated rehabilitative services and specialised care and is one of the largest rehab facilities in the region. QRI will significantly expand HMC’s capacity to care for recovering patients with its high-quality facilities which include 11 rehabilitation gyms and seven hydrotherapy pools.
The Ambulatory Care Centre is a first of its kind facility in Qatar offering patients a range of elective surgical procedures that require less than 23 hours of hospitalisation as well as limited inpatient care services. The facility, which is equipped with 66 beds and 14 operating theatres also houses a pre-assessment clinic where patients undergo a thorough medical evaluation to ensure readiness for surgery. It offers urology, podiatry, and gastroenterology outpatient services. Outpatient services for otolaryngology, audiology, and ophthalmology will also commence shortly.
This expansion demonstrates HMC’s commitment to improve the lives of patients by providing timely access to world-class specialist care delivered in state-of-the-art facilities. The new Medical City complex represents the biggest healthcare facility expansion in the region and will bring new services and care options to the people of Qatar.
