The Tobacco Control Center at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) recently opened a new dedicated smoking cessation clinic at Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital (HMGH), as part of its strategic plan to offer smoking cessation services across Qatar.
The opening of the new clinic at HMGH marks a key milestone for the centre in its expansion journey, following the opening of a smoking cessation clinic at Al Wakra Hospital last year.
The new clinic will operate initially every Monday. Longer clinic hours will depend on future demands or as needed. The services of the clinic are available to all citizens and residents of Qatar.
Appointments can be booked by calling 4024 0708 or by referral from any Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCC) or HMC physicians. The new clinic will provide consultations by specialist physicians and nursing staff trained to deliver smoking cessation services. The clinic will offer those who want to quit smoking various kinds of smoking cessation treatments, as needed.
According to Dr Ahmad Al Mulla, Head of the HMC Tobacco Control Center, the opening of the new clinic at HMGH is an important addition to the centre’s services, targeting residents in the rapidly growing Industrial Area and surrounding communities.
The new clinic will support their mission to raise public awareness on the dangers of tobacco use, in addition to providing health and medical advice, behavioural support and counselling to smokers to help them quit the habit.
The Tobacco Control Center urges anyone who wishes to quit smoking and who lives in the Industrial Area or near HMGH, to book an appointment with the new smoking cessation clinic and make use of its services.
