Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) won the Diamond Award for the Rising Star Sustainability Award presented by the Arab Hospitals Federation as part of the Golden Initiative Awards to address the climate change global challenge launched by the federation under the theme, The Arab Challenge Winner for Climate Change.
The award was received by Mohamad Mubarak Al Noimi, Director of the Office of the Minister of Public Health and Deputy Chief of the Arab Hospitals Federations, during his participation in the Arab Healthcare Development Annual Forum (AHDAF) Egypt 2023 held in Cairo recently.
Golden Initiative Awards
The Golden Initiative Awards recognise efforts to fight the global climate change challenge. It highlights the distinguished efforts taken by Arab health organisations towards green transformation in healthcare to approve green recovery plans and to counter the effects of climate change.
The Golden initiative witnessed the participation of 47 healthcare organisations from nine Arab countries.
The Arab Hospitals Federation announced ten winning healthcare organisations under the Golden Initiative for various categories:
- Rising Star Sustainability Award
- Visionary Leader Award in Healthcare Sustainability
- Smart Climate Certificate in Healthcare
- Green Hospital
- The Sustainable Architecture of Healthcare Facilities
- Water, Waste and Resources Management
- Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Certificate
Four more awards were awarded to individuals and organisations that are making efforts in the Arab healthcare sector sustainability to support the initiative in the fight against climate change.
HMC has presented its winning project on waste management programme at HMC in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and its commitment towards environmental sustainability. HMC constantly works to reduce the general waste sent to Qatar waste stations and implements a recycling system for general waste such as paper, plastic and aluminium.
