Hooray! It is dessert week and for this very popular part of any meal, I share with you the classic British treat of homemade apple pie, yet this time made in a skillet pan.
For the full recipe, click Skillet Apple Pie and enjoy this traditional pie as much as I do. Normally, a slightly sour Bramley apple is used for the filling but with a true ‘Jules twist’, I like to use up what is around me in the fruit bowl, leaving the skins on during cooking. Naturally, for a classic apple pie, all the filling has to be encased in a buttery, shortcrust pastry with a light sprinkling of sugar on the top. Finally, I recommend a hot custard, vanilla ice cream, or lashings of whipped cream as an accompaniment.
How delicious does this combination of sweet apple and pastry sound? So please enjoy making this delightful dessert for yourself and see you next week for another JULES recipe.
