Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) recently received the Occupational Health and Safety Award through Health, Safety and Environment Department for the second time from the British Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
The award is in honour of KAHRAMAA’s efforts in the field of health, safety and secure work environment and in appreciation of its keenness to apply the highest standards of occupational health and safety for all its employees, customers and contractors.
This global award is distinguished from the other awards, in terms of the field and criteria of the winners’ selection, as it includes all applicable systems of health and safety.
RoSPA is one of the largest professional associations providing awareness services in occupational health and safety worldwide and a non-profit organisation accredited by the British government. RoSPA has been working in this field for over 100 years. It currently has 1,200 memberships for governmental and non-governmental institutions from 58 states worldwide.
Commenting on KAHRAMAA’s winning the award for the second time, Director of Health, Safety and Environment Department Abdel Moneim Ahmed Al Darwish said they are working with the corporation’s relevant departments to ensure better compliance with health and safety standards in all works KAHRAMAA is carrying out, including in all its facilities.
He added that winning the award underscores KAHRAMAA’s full commitment to abiding by the relevant laws in Qatar to maintain workers’ health in various sectors and protect them from risks they might face due to the nature of their work. He said that the award represents an additional incentive to efficiently proceed with the work in the future. KAHRAMAA also won the award in 2019.
