The General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara, Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti recently inaugurated an exhibition titled ‘My memories … But’ by renowned Qatari artist, Ali Dasmal Al Kuwari at Katara’s Art Center, in the presence of members of the media and representatives of diplomatic missions to Doha.
The exhibition that comprises of eleven art-pieces created using mixed media, reflect the hazy images that made up our common memories and often embedded in our subconscious mind.
For instance, the construction sites, infrastructure renovation and congested traffic lanes that residents of Qatar deal with each time they step out of their homes, have become part of our collective memories. Al Kuwari’s unique technique of combining mixed media with colourful strokes, succeeded in capturing these undercurrents in a haunting and appealing manner.
Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti exuded gratitude and appreciation to the artist for his outstanding paintings, saying that the exhibition has artistically portrayed the effects of traffic and construction that has resulted from the infrastructural development ongoing in the country at the moment.
The artist expressed his sincere appreciation to the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara for providing him with an opportunity to display his extraordinary paintings. Ali Al Kuwari is a member of the Qatar Society for Fine Arts, and has successfully conducted a series of exhibitions in Egypt, Italy, Kuwait, and Georgia.
