Cultural Village Foundation – Katara this week presented four new postage stamps to mark this year’s celebration of World Children’s Day.
The new postage stamps contain the winning drawings of children chosen from among 572 entries in the art competition organised previously by Katara in cooperation with Qatar Post. The competition was participated by children seven to 14 years old and representing at least 46 nationalities. Six winners received QAR2,500 each, and four were selected to be printed on the postage stamps.
Katara General Manager HE Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, congratulated the winners and thanked everyone who participated in the competition. He said that Katara has always been dedicated to educational and entertainment activities for children, to educate them, develop their skills and further refine their talents.
HE Dr Al Sulaiti said that the initiative will not be the last, and they will continue to encourage children to develop their creative talents and abilities.
Qatar Post CEO Hamad Mohammed Al Fahida, said the new stamps are available from all branches of Qatar Post and added to the Arab Postal Stamps Museum collection in Katara.
This is the second occasion when Katara and Qatar Post launched a commemorative stamp for a special event – the first one was in May 2015 to mark the launch of the Katara Prize for Arabic Novel.
