Manateq, the national company working to diversify Qatar’s economy by providing premium infrastructure within strategic zones, has reported that the number of investors who applied for Birkat Al Awamer Logistics Park has overtaken the number of plots available for lease.
The company received more than 3,800 applications for the 787 plot leases, offered on a 25-year lease period, which was launched in November.
A public draw was conducted for qualified applications from companies that are 100% Qatari-owned, supervised by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The winning applicants will benefit from a two-year rent exemption starting from 1 January 2021.
According to Manateq CEO Engineer Fahad Rashid Al Kaabi, the response to the plot offer has been highly encouraging and underlines the confidence investors have in the future of Manateq and the country’s economic diversification strategy.
The plots on offer are divided into three categories – at least 1,140 sqm; 1,141 sqm to 2,500 sqm; and those between 10,601 sqm to 21,000 sqm. The varying categories were aimed to respond to diverse investor needs.
Birkat Al Awamer is one of five logistics projects being developed by Manateq and designed to appeal to companies wanting to build their own warehouses or workshops, commercial showrooms, offices, and staff accommodation on one plot. Birkat Al Awamer benefits from proximity to vital logistics gateways, making it a highly strategic location to facilitate speedy logistics delivery with convenient connectivity to Hamad Port and Al Majd Road.
The huge demad has demonstrated Birkat Al Awamer’s strong appeal to various logistics sectors. Al Kaabi said they look forward to investors progressing their projects, to begin realising the benefits of Qatar’s national growth drive.
