The Arab Museum of Modern Art is launching a summer programme for students, as part of its commitment to host educational and community engagement activities that stimulate creativity and appreciation of modern and contemporary art in the region.
Presented by Qatar Museums under the leadership of its Chairperson, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Mathaf’s Education Summer Programme will enable students to explore different art mediums in the Mathaf collection and learn about different concepts and practices in modern and contemporary art through observation, discussion, research and creative activities. Throughout the week, students will have the opportunity to experiment with drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media inspired by the museum’s collection – one of the world’s largest specialised collection of its kind.
Mathaf’s Learning and Outreach Deputy Director Maral J Bedoyan said they look forward to hosting the Summer Programme.
It is our commitment at Mathaf to develop learning programmes that create spaces for creativity and learning for the local community, nurture emerging talent and allow students to work together to explore and develop their interest and appreciation for art, starting with the museum’s collection.’
The Programme, which is free of charge and offered in English and Arabic, is open for all students between the ages of 8 and 14. Students will be divided into groups depending on their age, with each group attending three sessions over the course of one week. This initiative comes as part of Mathaf’s commitment to increase knowledge of the museums’ collection and advocate for art education and creative learning.
