The 8th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition AGRITEQ kicks off today at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani. The exhibition will run until Saturday, 27 March.
A total of 208 companies from the agriculture, environment, food and animal production industries is taking part in the exhibition. Over 42 countries are also participating represented by their respective embassies and trade bureaus in Qatar.
AgriteQ is considered one of the leading regional and international platforms for the exchange of expertise in the agriculture sector.

Modern agricultural innovations
The exhibition is focused on modern agricultural innovations in support of national plans for increasing agricultural production to meet local demand following the country’s national strategy for food security.
The exhibition is divided into separate areas, each focusing on a particular aspect of the agricultural sector.
VeteQ for instance will be dedicated to veterinary services, while FoodteQ will focus solely on the latest innovations in food packaging and production.
On the sidelines of the exhibition will be the inauguration of the largest plant factory in the Middle East. The factory will help increase self-sufficiency in various types of vegetables over the course of the entire year, instead of availability on a seasonal basis only.

Health and safety measures in place
Despite the extraordinary circumstances because of the COVID-19, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment has pushed through with the event, making sure that all required precautionary measures are in place to keep the health and safety of all visitors and participants.
Those wishing to attend the exhibition are required to register their interest via the exhibition’s website. After registering online, a barcode will be sent back that will allow them to enter the exhibition venue.
