Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) launched an electronic colouring booklet entitled “Heroes of the White Army” which features drawings with awareness messages addressed to children.
The project, which is in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), has tips for children to deal with COVID-19 explained in simple words – in both Arabic and English – from medical heroes during Qatar’s efforts to tackle the Coronavirus pandemic.
Alyaa Hassan Al-Kuwari, Director of Public Relations and Communication at the Ministry of Public Health, said:
The launch of the E-booklet is part of the Ministry of Public Health’s efforts in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation and Primary Health Care Corporation to promote awareness and health education for the COVID-19 pandemic among children in Qatari society, as precautionary measures and preventive measures associated with the virus continue, and represents a symbolic recognition of the efforts of medical staff in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
Al-Kuwari explained that the main goal of the project is to establish a generation that understands the importance of the medical profession in various specialties. It also aims to create the passion and dream of working within the ranks of this high profession and instill enthusiasm in the children for the future. Al-Kuwari added that the design of the characters in the booklet and the advices used inside it targeted children aged 4 to 10 years.
Hassan Al-Hill, Executive Director of Media and Public Relations at HMC affirmed:
The launch of the new booklet coincides with the implementation of the second phase of the gradual lifting of restrictions on the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim of contributing to raising awareness among children in Qatar about the coronavirus and how to protect themselves from infection and to identify the inspiring roles played by medical staff to fight the virus.
Huda Al-Wahedi, Executive Director of Corporate Communications at the PHCC also said that the booklet will help make children more aware.
Through the booklet, the health sector seeks to introduce children and educate them about many reliable health information of the COVID-19.
Parents can submit the names of their children to download the PDF format of the colouring E- booklet from this link: https://whitearmyheroes.moph.gov.qa/ . The personalised booklet is also a way to give the children other forms of entertainment and education other than the electronic devices while staying at home. The Ministry also urges parents to encourage their children to draw their favorite heroic character and share them on social media and tagging #WhiteArmy_Qatar.
