Mindsports Academy (MSA) has announced that eSports and Arabic Scrabble will make their way to the 4th Mindsports World Championships, marking significant firsts for the upcoming edition of the international competition.
These exciting additions to the championships are expected to make for a unique edition of the tournament. To be hosted by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), the event will take place at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) between 19 and 27 August.
eSports are a form of competition that is facilitated by electronic systems, in particular video games, and in which players participate as individuals or as part of a team. Over the course of four days at the championships, eSports gamers will battle it out for FIFA and Call of Duty titles and a total prize pool of $20,000 USD.
And, later on during the nine-day championships, word game enthusiasts of all levels are invited to take part in the Arabic Scrabble events and a chance to become the first MSA Arabic Scrabble Champion and MSA Arabic Junior Scrabble Champion. Participants will play in seven rounds; those who make it to the top eight will return on the second day to play in knockout rounds and ultimately be crowned Champion and win a share of the dedicated prize pools.
