The General Directorate of Traffic announced the launch of a new mechanism to settle accumulated traffic violations. This new system is taking effect on Qatar National Day, 18 December, for a period of three months.
The announcement was made at a press conference organised by the directorate at its headquarters in Madinat Khalifa, led by the Directorate of Traffic Acting Director-General Brigadier Mohamed Abdullah al-Shahwani, Traffic Awareness Department Director Colonel Mohamed Radi al-Hajri and Licensing Affairs Assistant Director Colonel Rashid Salih al-Qamra.
Brigadier Al-Shahwani said the discount will be available for a period of three months.
After the expiry of this period and the beginning of next year, legal procedures will be applied to collect the new traffic violations.
He called on the public to take advantage of the initiative to settle the violations accumulated during the past years. Individuals whose cars have been seized because of traffic violations can also avail of the service to keep their vehicles from being sold.
Payments can be made through the Metrash2 app. People can also contact the Traffic Department for any concerns.
According to Colonel al-Hajri, a new mechanism will be used next year for controlling and collecting traffic violations, which will benefit a large segment of road users, especially those who have committed traffic violations and have accumulated fines.
