Porsche is expanding its mid-engine range with the new two-seater 718 Boxster GTS and 718 Cayman GTS. The power output has been increased to 365 hp (269 kW) thanks to a newly developed air intake-duct and an optimised turbocharger for the 2.5-litre, four-cylinder boxer engine. With these improvements, the engine delivers 15 hp (11 kW) more power than the 718 S model and up to 35 hp (26 kW) more power than its GTS predecessor models with the naturally aspirated engines.
The new mid-engine sports cars are available with a manual six-speed transmission or optional Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK). A range of features is standard, including the Sport Chrono Package, Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with a mechanical rear differential lock and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which lowers the ride height by ten millimetres.
More power for more performance
The GTS models have a maximum torque of 430 Nm, available from 1,900 to 5,000 rpm, providing an even better acceleration response. When equipped with the PDK and Sport Chrono Package, they accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, achieving a top speed of 290 km/h.
Typical GTS: numerous black elements both inside and out
The new additions to the 718 range stand out not only in terms of technology, but also in design. The side profile is characterised by black GTS logos at the base of the doors and 20-inch wheels in a black satin finish. The front end features the new Sport Design apron emphasising the vehicles’ sporty character. As is customary for GTS models, the front light clusters with the Bi-Xenon headlights are black-tinted. At the rear of the vehicle, the dark-tinted taillights, black logos, black rear apron and centrally positioned black tailpipes from the standard sports exhaust system further intensify the sporty appearance.
High-quality Alcantara and Porsche Track Precision App
The GTS genealogy is evident throughout the interior. The stopwatch of the standard Sport Chrono Package is integrated as a central feature of the dashboard. As with other Porsche GTS models, both the driver and front passenger enjoy sports seats with Alcantara centre inserts. The standard Sports Seats Plus with GTS logos on the headrests can be electronically adjusted in two ways to provide increased lateral support and comfort. Alcantara leather is generously used in the cabin trim on the steering wheel, centre console and armrests. Enthusiasts with a passion for dynamic driving are assisted by the Porsche Track Precision App (PTPA), which enables the driver to automatically record, display and analyse driving data on their smartphone.
