The Philippine Embassy in Qatar announced the start of overseas voting for the country’s top national posts. The voting will continue on until 9 May, when actual voting in the country is scheduled.
The Embassy will serve as the polling place for the 30-day voting period and will be open from 7 am to 4 pm. It will also be open on Fridays and Saturdays, but only for purposes of voting. Registered voters are advised to bring a copy of their passport or Qatar ID to be allowed to vote. As of February, the Certified List of Overseas Voter in Qatar, including land-based workers and seafarers, is at 60,025.
Fake Facebook page
On a separate Facebook post, the Embassy cautioned Filipinos living and working in Qatar against a ‘fake’ Facebook account posing as the Philippine Embassy.
In a social media post, they said that users should note that the official FB account of the Philippine Embassy has a blue check mark badge right after its name, proof of its authenticity.
It added:
It may also be observed that the FB fake account name is separated by a comma, and was only created today (9 April 9) without any previous posts to show. While the Embassy has already reported this matter to relevant authorities in the Philippines and Facebook, the Embassy reminds everyone to be vigilant when using the social media.
