The Competitions Committee of Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced the approval of their calendar for the upcoming 2022-23 season, which will start in early August with the QNB Stars League, and end with the final match of the 51st Amir Cup in May 2023.
According to QFA Competitions Committee Chairman Hamad Al-Mannai, the football calendar will start on 1 August with the QNB Stars League. The competition will continue on until 29 April next year.
He also announced the starting dates for other league competitions – the second division league on 28 August until 27 April 2023; the reserve league, meanwhile will be held during the period after the 2022 World Cup, with the championship kicking off on 26 December until 26 April next year.
Several breaks, cup tournaments
Al-Mannai said that the next season will witness several breaks, especially as Qatar is about to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ (21 November to 18 December), in addition to interruptions to the competitions for FIFA international matchdays.
The 51st edition of the Amir Cup will start on 29 January, with the playoff match in the preliminary stage. The round of 16 matches of the tournament will start on 7 March. The competition will end on 5 May 2023. The Ooredoo Cup will start on 19 September and will continue on until 27 March.
