Qatar National Day is celebrated every year on 18 December to commemorate the country’s unification. Traditional activities, military parades, fireworks, and Qatari flag displays, are observed all over the country to mark this special occasion.
With the country playing host to the biggest football competition in the world – for the first time ever in the Middle East – the 2022 Qatar National Day celebrations are more memorable this year with the championship match for the FIFA World Cup™ at Lusail Stadium to be the showcase event.

CELEBRATIONS AND EVENTS: QNL AND THE FIFA WORLD CUP QATAR 2022™
Qatar National Library
Featuring several cultural, educational and artistic community activities. Visitors currently in the country for the FIFA World Cup™ matches will also have the chance to join discussions and activities related to Qatar’s art, history, culture and language.
- Reesha exhibition (until 31 Dec) showcases children’s artwork inspired by Qatar 2022 stadiums.
- An Exploration of Color and Nature exhibition (3 Dec – 30 Mar 2023) features the life and work of Algerian artist Baya Mahieddine.
- Online lectures and discussions on the topic, Illicit Circulation and Laundering of National and Oriental Cultural Goods in the World of Art (8 Dec).
- Play and learn about a selection of traditional Qatari games (8/10 Dec)
- Qatari Story Time (14/15 Dec) for children and families to listen to the most beautiful Qatari stories and learn more about Qatari identity and culture.

The Qatar National Day parade will happen after the final match of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The Ministry of Defense has announced that the Qatar National Day air show will take place at Lusail Boulevard on 18 December.
