Two separate campaigns were launched by Qatar Museums and Qatar Foundation, in partnership with Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and Qatar Charity, respectively, to help the survivors of the recent devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.
Qatar Museums
Qatar Museums launched a campaign named Be Their Hope, encouraging staff, visitors and sponsors to donate items to help survivors of the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.
In partnership with Qatar Red Crescent, volunteers and partners of Qatar Museums will begin accepting donations at the staff parking of the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) and the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) between 9 am and 7 pm this Wednesday and Thursday, 15-16 February.
Qatar Red Crescent is calling for urgently required supplies, which include the following items:
- Canned foodstuffs with an expiry date of at least six months (powdered milk and canned goods)
- Clothes and blankets (please note that only new items will be accepted)
- Hygiene products such as diapers (in sizes suitable for children and the elderly) sanitisers, alcohol and surgical gloves
- First aid supplies such as antiseptic spray, bandages and dressings, safety pins, sterilising wipes, adhesive tape, foil blankets, etc
- Toys of any kind
Donations can be dropped at the MIA and the NMoQ. The donation point at MIA is situated at the staff parking beneath the bridge, while the donation point at NMoQ is also at the parking area.

According to Qatar Red Crescent Secretary General Ali bin Hassan Al-Hammadi, they are dedicated to providing aid and support to those in need, especially during times of crisis. He said they are proud to partner with Qatar Museums on this donation campaign and are grateful for the community’s support in making a difference in the lives of those affected.
In addition to their commitment to preserving, restoring and expanding Qatar’s cultural offerings, Qatar Museums endeavour to aid those affected by disasters and urges everyone to join them in making a difference in the lives of those affected by donating whatever they can.
Qatar Foundation
A donation drive to support the earthquake victims in Türkiye and Syria was also launched by Qatar Foundation, in cooperation with Qatar Charity.
Members of Qatar’s community donated large amounts of warm clothes, blankets and food, with volunteers from the QF community and beyond supporting the collection process.
The campaign was launched in Education City last 9 February. It has collected about 2.5 tonnes of donations in less than 24 hours.
According to Fatma Attia, one of the team members involved in the donation drive, the interaction of community members inside and outside Qatar Foundation has been great, and they continue to receive donations in abundance.
Volunteers are sorting donations into categories, ensuring the validity of foodstuffs, as well as making sure that clothes are in good and clean condition, before placement in cardboard boxes and transported to Qatar Charity, which in turn sends them to Türkiye and Syria.
Donations are still accepted at the Black Box Theatre in Multaqa (Education City Student Center) daily, from 9 am to 6 pm.
talabat
talabat, the region’s popular tech platform, with support from charity partners that also include Qatar Charity and QRCS, in addition to Education Above All (EAA) and Qatar Cancer Society (QCS), collected over QAR4.3 million in 2022 through its app-based donation channels.
