Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) announced the opening of the first QNB branch in Msheireb station, the main station of Doha Metro. The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Faraj Hamad Al Marri, Assistant General Manager for Distribution and Manned Channels, Ajlan Eid Al Enazi, Chief of Strategy and Business Development at Qatar Rail, and a number of Qatar Rail and QNB representatives.
The QNB branch opening comes after the preview service of the first section of the Red Line, which was launched earlier this month. More retail spaces are expected to open in the coming months. According to Al Enazi, the Doha Metro project is a comprehensive development project expected to change the transport landscape in Qatar.
Metro stations will not only attract commuters but also residents of surrounding areas. We are pleased to open the first QNB branch in the Msheireb Doha Metro Station, to provide commuters with dedicated banking services.’
The Red Line stations from Al Wakrah to Al Qassar, a total of 13 stations, will have 86 retail units. In addition to retail outlets, the stations will also include dedicated spaces for 46 ATM and 27 vending machines. The stations will offer at least four main retail types – Services, Food and Beverage, Convenience Stores and General Retail, following the aim of Qatar Rail to achieve diversity and integration between the various retail outlets to better service Doha Metro customers and metro commuters.
