The National Cybersecurity Agency (NCSA) announced that Qatar has achieved a significant milestone in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) 2024, earning the prestigious classification of a ‘Role Model’ country at the international level in the field of cybersecurity.
The Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) issued by the United Nations International Telecommunication Union (ITU) recognised Qatar’s outstanding performance across all five key pillars defining cybersecurity obligations: legal, technical, regulatory, capacity development, and cooperation measures.
Qatar received top scores in each of these categories, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to locally and globally enhancing cybersecurity. The country’s leadership in devising effective cybersecurity strategies further solidifies its position as a global frontrunner.
These impressive results highlight the importance of Qatar’s ongoing efforts to establish a secure digital environment and foster international collaboration in combating rising cyber threats.
The GCI 2024 employs a new five-tier analysis, offering a deeper examination of each country’s cybersecurity advances. The report places 46 countries in Tier 1, the highest of the five tiers, reserved for ‘role modelling’ countries that demonstrate a strong commitment to all five cybersecurity pillars.
