Canadian Embassy received the CSR leadership award from Qatar University (QU) in recognition of the embassy’s contributions to the community over the past year. QU also launched the CSR Report, ‘The National Book – Qatar 2016’ during the ceremony which was held in the presence of Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanim Al Ali, recipient of the ‘CSR person of the Year’ award.
HE Canadian Ambassador Adrian Norfolk, received the award from Dr Hasan Al Derham, President of Qatar University.
Norfolk, in an article in the CSR Report 2016, highlighted the Canadian Embassy’s contributions to the community over the past year. Canada established its embassy in Qatar in 2012 to facilitate the growing activities between the two countries, to provide consular services to the growing Canadian population (there are now more than 9,000 Canadians living and working in Qatar), and to perform an important role in further developing bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Embassy of Canada in Qatar is proud of its participation in leading Canadian academic and health institutions, such as the College of the North Atlantic (CNA) and the University of Calgary (UC), whose partnership with Qatar Government in the CAN-Qatar and UC-Qatar have become centres of Canadian-Qatari excellence in the delivery of vocational and professional training and nurses education; while other Canadian sectoral groups such as Toronto ‘Sick Kids’ hospital and the University Health Network (UHN) have worked with Hamad and Sidra hospitals.
The Embassy also participated in the fifth annual forum for scholarship students and student welfare programme, organised by the Office of Scholarships and Partnerships at Qatar University. The forum comes within the framework of the university’s commitment to support excellent students by providing various academic success opportunities that encourage them to complete their higher studies in the most prestigious universities in the world and the most distinguished ones.
