Qatari national Wadha Nasser Al Jabor received a prestigious financial award to bring her peer-to-peer education project to life in Qatar. The US Embassy in Qatar made the announcement.
Her project, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) for All, won the 2023 IVLP Impact Award, which was open worldwide to alumni of the US International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), a prestigious Department of State exchange programme in which Wadha participated in the fall 2022.
Wadha, a statistician and leadership coach, will use STEAM for All to allow children and youth in Qatar to explore hands-on learning in robotics, programming, circuity, 3D modelling, and other areas of STEAM. She travelled on an IVLP trip-themed in the US, Youth Volunteerism and Civic Engagement, while developing her STEAM for All idea.
Wadha said she had the idea for over a year, but her IVLP experience empowered her to initiate the project and reach out for resources locally and internationally. She said that by exposing her initial idea and discussing it with experts during the IVLP, she was moved to another level where she realised the need and impact of STEAM for All.
