Qur’anic Botanic Garden (QBG) signed an agreement of mutual cooperation with Al Shabhana Association to promote environmental sustainability and conserve plant life in Qatar.
The partnership emphasises QBG’s efforts to foster social engagement and work with the local community to protect the environment and conserve natural resources. The agreement also recognises the importance of achieving food security and spreading knowledge to the wider community in Qatar.
QBG Project Manager Fatma Saleh Al-Khulaifi said that uniting the mutual efforts of both parties is of great benefit particularly in the conservation of QBG plants.
This agreement demonstrates our commitment to nurturing Qatar’s environment and to the development of the country’s agricultural and environmental sustainability in support of Qatar National Vision 2030.’
The Al Shabhana Association works towards combating all forms of environmental pollution and vandalism, and on cultivating and spreading endangered plants and wild trees in Qatar. It also aims to enhance the role of young people in the protection and conservation of natural resources and strengthening environmental sustainability through meaningful community partnerships, affirming its mission that Qatar’s environment must be protected and preserved in all its components.
QBG is a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF). It aims to encourage social engagement and strengthen cultural and conservation awareness in Qatar, supporting QF’s commitment to promoting environmental sustainability within the wider community.
