Revisiting Morimoto in Mondrian Doha is akin to entering a space that has become comfortably familiar. It’s like returning to a spot that holds a unique sense of ease and recognition, where the ambience and experience have become distinctly known to us over time.
The restaurant has this stylish, dimly lit ambiance, with a live DJ adding a modern touch. As you step in, a sleek bar sets the tone, leading to the intriguing open kitchen of the Ramen Bar. Couches, tables, and chairs are casually arranged around a striking chandelier, creating cosy nooks.
The place is consistently abuzz with a diverse crowd—locals, and tourists—all drawn in for that unmistakable and authentic Japanese experience that Morimoto consistently delivers. This time, we swung by for their Tuesday Rolls and Ramen night.
Morimoto, the first venture by Chef Morimoto in the Middle East, is really something special. The Rolls & Ramen night comes in at a price of QAR210 per person, presenting a value-packed opportunity every Tuesday from 6 pm to 10 pm.
Wondering what’s on the menu? To kick things off, we indulged in a classic yet impeccably executed starter—Edamame, seasoned with Morimoto’s signature touch of Maldon salt or chili & garlic sauce.
Now, let’s talk Rolls. Brace yourself for a culinary adventure because you’re treated to a whopping 16 pieces, and each one is a winner. Whether it’s the upscale Salmon & Truffle, the fiery Spicy Shrimp Tempura, or the comforting Chicken Katsu, get ready for a flavourful journey.
Funny thing is, we initially thought 16 pieces might be a bit much, but before we knew it, we found ourselves enthusiastically devouring every last roll. And we still had room to dive into the ramen and dessert.
The Ramen selection threw us into a delightful noodle conundrum. Should we savoUr the goodness of the Chicken Ramen, featuring cha-su chicken, aji-tama, and bok choy, or take a plunge into the world of Seafood Ramen, boasting king prawn, mussels, and shiitake mushrooms? Then there’s the alluring Wagyu Ramen with flank steak, sweet potato, and bean sprouts, not to forget the Vegan Ramen with fried tofu, Asian veggies, and miso. Decisions, decisions.
In the end, we opted for both the Seafood and Wagyu Ramen. And it turned out to be a fantastic decision.
Finally, the grand finale—the Desserts. White Chocolate Semi-Freddo with strawberry, meringue, and shiso? Chocolate Tart with matcha ice cream and macerated raspberries? Or the exotic Passion Colada with coconut cake, mango sorbet, and passion fruit? It’s a sweet dilemma.
Morimoto always delivers. The atmosphere is just right, the service is on point, and the food? It’s like a mini culinary vacation. We’re already counting the days until our next visit. Give them a ring at +974 4045 5999 and make your Tuesdays a celebration with Rolls and Ramen—it’s an experience worth repeating!
